“ The first time I saw a rope tool of this configuration. It was in the basement of Norm Hall, a long time friend, and colleague. I was staying at his home in Illinois during a training in 1999. Norm kept his personal equipment in his basement near his splicing station and he showed me this long retrievable sling he had made. I asked him specifically why he chose 12 strand hollow braid for the rope construction, and he simply said in his quintessential way, “Because it’s the best rope construction for the application.” 😃 I loved Norm for his “no nonsense” approach. “Low stretch, abrasion resistant, better on the bend ratio because of its hollow core and easily stowed because of its flexibility.” If you knew him, you can hear him saying these words. I know you’ll find this tool not only useful but hopefully also a reminder of a most principled man who will be so incredibly missed in our industry.
